Going Home Is Like Stepping Through An Open Door!
Dear God/ess, Another Hometown Icon passed on August 14th, and I went to her Memorial Service today. She was a musical director at the Unitarian Church as well as a local theater scene Musical Giant. She had a voice that truly knocked you unexpectedly to the ground.
One of her students sang, "Going Home," which managed to release a river of tears. That song, in my opinion, is a spiritual testament to life after death. Going Home is nothing more than opening the door to the next adventure in our Destiny, so say the words.
I am trying to get an audio version of it, since the video somehow is not translating. I was transported to another place in the spiritual realm in that church, the second time in just a few days of going there to honor a life.
Here is a Paul Robeson link to his beautiful version of Going Home!
I want to share a Rumi Poem I read at Jo-an's service on Saturday. It had an effect on everyone there that day:
Whoever Brought Me Here, Will Have To Take Me Home
All day I think about it then at night I say it.
Where did I come from, and what am I supposed to be doing?
I have no idea.
My soul is from elsewhere, I'm sure of that,
And I intend to end up there. This drunkenness began in some other tavern,
When I get back around to that place,
I'll be completely sober. Meanwhile,
I'm like a bird from another continent, sitting in this aviary.
The day is coming when I fly off,
but who is it now in my ear who hears my voice?
Who says words with my mouth?Who looks out with my eyes? What is the soul?
I cannot stop asking.
If I could taste one sip of an answer,
I could could break out of this prison for drunks.
I didn't come here of my own accord, and I can't leave that way.
Whoever brought me here will have to take me home. This poetry. I never know what I am going to say.
I don't plan it.
When I'm outside the saying of it,
I get very quiet and rarely speak at all.RUMI
Om Peace Amen
