Dear God/ess, Sometimes Life forces us to slow down. I have no choice this morning, (after a brisk swim at the Gym) but to rest and listen to the birdies sing on this beautiful late spring morning.

A stomach cramp tells me to be at peace with the sounds of the morning, and the brilliant sunshine streaming on every blade of grass and ripple upon the river that rolls by my house.

Slowing down is a necessity in a life of prayer and meditation. It also is important in the life of a writer. The faster I go, the less time I find to put pen to paper. This is not an alternative for the person who writes.

In order to seize the day, we live out a twenty-four hour period according to our own rhythm. We listen to the music that arises inwardly and we heed the clarion call. Wherever I go today I am supposed to go. Whomever I meet, I am destined to meet.

The miracle lies in paying attention, tuning in, like a tuning fork that captures perfect pitch, the resonance of the Soul's Calling.

Slowing down can show us all of this, and much much more.
